Background

HumanKine® Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF) is a potent neurotrophic factor that promotes the survival, maintenance, and differentiation of neurons, particularly dopaminergic and motor neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems. GDNF is widely used as a cell culture supplement for neural differentiation, stem cell research, and brain organoid development. Produced in a HEK293 human expression system, HumanKine® GDNF closely mimics native human protein, delivering enhanced bioactivity and stability. GDNF signals through the GFRα1/RET receptor complex, supporting neuronal survival, neurite outgrowth, and synaptic function. GDNF plays a key role in neuroprotection and tissue regeneration and has been extensively studied in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
