Background Information
SMC4, also named as Structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 4, is a 1288 amino acid protein, which is widely expressed and belongs to the SMC family, SMC4 subfamily. SMC4 is a Central component of the condensin complex, a complex required for conversion of interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condense chromosomes.
