Background Information
CXCL13 (C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 13), also known as B cell-attracting chemokine 1 (BCA-1) or B-lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC), is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. It was independently discovered by two research groups in 1998-Legler et al. identified it as BCA-1, while Gunn et al. described it as BLC. CXCL13 is primarily secreted by follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) within B-cell follicles of secondary lymphoid organs, including lymph nodes, spleen, and Peyer's patches.
