Background Information
Betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase (BHMT) is a cytosolic enzyme that Involved in the regulation of homocysteine metabolism. BHMT catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. This reaction is also required for the irreversible oxidation of choline(PMID: 8798461, 10529246).
