Background

SHH, also named as HHG-1, belongs to the hedgehog family. SHH binds to the patched receptor (PTC), that in association with smoothened (SMO) activate the transcription of target genes. HumanKine SHH is a high-quality, animal-free recombinant Sonic Hedgehog protein designed for advanced stem cell and neurodevelopment research. In brain organoid differentiation, SHH plays a key morphogenic role by helping guide ventral patterning, supporting the generation of midbrain and ventral neural lineages, and enabling more physiologically relevant brain model development. HumanKine SHH expressed in HEK293 cells offers key advantages including native human conformation, high bioactivity, low endotoxin, xeno-free production, and strong lot-to-lot consistency. These features make it a reliable choice for researchers seeking reproducible results in organoid workflows, neural differentiation, and developmental signaling studies.
