Background Information
TRHR is a Gq-coupled neuroendocrine GPCR that mediates the actions of thyrotropin-releasing hormone in the anterior pituitary and brain. By activating PLC-Ca²⁺ signaling, TRHR controls TSH secretion, regulates thyroid hormone output, and influences metabolic rate and neuroendocrine behavior. Genetic or functional disruption of TRHR leads to central hypothyroidism and broader metabolic and neurological consequences, highlighting its essential role in HPT axis regulation.
