Background Information
TNKS1BP1, also known as TAB182, is a member of the poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) superfamily. It is an anchor polymerase 1 (Tankyrase1) binding protein with a molecular weight of 182 kDa and is widely distributed throughout the cell, including the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus. TNKS1BP1 functions in both telomere maintenance and DNA damage response. TNKS1BP1 can compete with TRF1 to bind to the multiple binding sites of tankyrase1, potentially interfering with the transport of tankyrase1 from cytoplasm to nucleus and its localization in telomeres, which affects the stability of telomeres (PMID: 28058814, PMID: 39019859, PMID: 39113018).
