Background Information
TMEM38B encodes endoplasmic reticulum membrane monovalent cation-specific channel which is involved in the release of calcium (Ca2+) from intracellular stores. TMEM38B, also known as TRIC-B, is one of the two trimeric intracellular cation (TRIC) channels. TRIC-B deficiency causes bone disease due to defective Ca2+ release and signaling in the bone cells.
