Background Information
SLC2A4RG, or SLC2A4 Regulator, is a nuclear transcription factor that plays a role in activating the solute carrier family 2 member 4 gene, also known as GLUT4. SLC2A4RG has been implicated in the transcriptional regulation of genes, including its interaction with a 7-bp consensus sequence (GCCGGCG), which is an essential cis-regulatory element for Huntington's disease (HD) gene expression in neuronal cells. The SLC2A4RG protein is involved in the modulation of SLC2A4 expression and has been identified as a transcription factor that binds specifically to the promoter region of SLC2A4. It is also known to interact with another transcription factor, myocyte enhancer factor 2 (MEF2), to activate the transcription of SLC2A4. SLC2A4RG is expressed ubiquitously in various tissues, with higher expression levels observed in fat and kidney tissues.
