Background Information
SDSL (full name: Serine Dehydratase-Like) is a pyridoxal phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzyme encoded by human SDSL gene, which is mainly located in cytoplasm. Biochemical activity: It is a multifunctional enzyme with weak L- serine ammonia-lyase and L- threonine dehydratase activities, and participates in the process of amino acid catabolism (catalyzing serine and threonine to be converted into pyruvate, α-ketobutyric acid and ammonia respectively). Studies have shown that compared with the homologous enzyme SDS in the liver, the activity of SDSL in human cancer cells is lower. Clinical and research significance: This protein plays a certain role in signal transduction and metabolic regulation. Abnormal expression or variation at the gene level is related to specific genetic diseases (such as some thyroid dysfunction) and cancer mechanism research. Homodimer can be formed.
