Product Information
KE20028 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The rat Albumin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous rat Albumin. The assay recognizes rat Albumin. An antibody specific for rat Albumin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The rat Albumin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for rat Albumin is added to detect the captured rat Albumin protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Albumin is a multi-functional protein that participates in the regulation of colloid osmotic pressure, transportation of endogenous ligands and drugs, and regulation of microvascular permeability. Albumin major calcium and magnesium transporter in plasma, binds approximately 45% of circulating calcium and magnesium in plasma. Human (HSA) and rat (RSA) serum albumins share similar characteristics of binding biologically active substances.
