Background Information
RBP7(Retinol Binding Protein 7), also known as CRBP4 or CRBP4, belongs to the cell retinol binding protein (CRBP) family. Its structure is a typical β-barrel, which can bind all-trans retinol, but its affinity is lower than other CRBP members. RBP7 is mainly located in cytoplasm, and has secretory characteristics, and is highly expressed in adipose tissue (white/brown), kidney, heart and other tissues. Functionally, it is responsible for the stability and transport of retinol in cells and provides substrates for LRAT to form retinyl esters. At the same time, it is regulated by PPARγ, which promotes preadipocyte differentiation and triglyceride accumulation, and mediates vascular endothelial protection through adiponectin. In terms of diseases, the expression of RBP7 is up-regulated in many hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines, but the level is low in normal hepatocytes L02. As a key chaperone protein of retinol metabolic pathway, RBP7 is a potential target for metabolic diseases and tumor research.
