Background Information
Ras GTPase-activating protein 2 (RASA2) is also named GAP1M and RASGAP. RASA2 was a critical RAS-specific GAP, inhibition of which permitted increased proliferation following TCR stimulation under conditions of immunosuppression (PMID: 37858490). RASA2 was identified as an inhibitor of RAS signaling in multiple human tumors, including melanoma, where inactivating RASA2 mutations have been found (PMID: 26502337). RASA2 is also one of the genes mutated in Noonan syndrome, a Rasopathy associated with developmental defects and elevated RAS activity (PMID: 25049390). RASA2 is expressed in both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells (PMID: 36002574).
