Background Information
NPTXR (Neuronal Pentraxin Receptor) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed in the cerebellum and hippocampus. It mediates synaptic plasticity by clustering AMPA-type glutamate receptors at excitatory synapses and promoting synaptogenesis. NPTXR can be proteolytically cleaved to release a soluble form. Its dysregulation is implicated in Alzheimer's disease and small-cell lung cancer.(PMID: 9261167; 18367087; 19368810; 16115696)
