Product Information

KE10159 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse/rat ALCAM ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse/rat ALCAM. The assay recognizes mouse/rat ALCAM. An antibody specific for mouse/rat ALCAM has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse/rat ALCAM protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse/rat ALCAM is added to detect the captured mouse/rat ALCAM protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Mouse ALCAM (Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule, also known as CD166) is an immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules that is widely expressed in a variety of cell types including leukocytes, endothelial cells, and neuronal cells. It is involved in biological processes such as T-cell activation, immune synapse formation, cell migration and adhesion by interacting with molecules such as CD6. ALCAM plays an important role in the differentiation and self-renewal of hematopoietic stem cells in mice, and it is highly expressed in long term hematopoietic stem cells (LT-HSC), and the level increases with age. In addition, ALCAM also plays an important role in tumor progression and neurological development and disease, and is an important target for the study of immune regulation, tumor biology and neuroscience.
