Background Information
MLLT1 encodes a chromatin reader in the super elongation complex that promotes transcriptional elongation by binding acetylated and crotonylated histones. Through its YEATS domain, it shows strong preference for H3K27cr, linking histone acylation marks to increased RNA polymerase II pause-site release and gene expression. The protein is found in the nucleus, nucleoplasm, cytosol, and fibrillar center.
