Background Information
MEF2D is a member of the MEF2 family of transcription factors. Binds specifically to the MEF2 element is found in numerous muscle-specific, growth factor- and stress-induced genes. MEF2D may play a critical role in the regulation of neuronal apoptosis. MEF2D is the only member of the MEF2 family which is present in undifferentiated myoblast suggesing that it may play a role in the very early stages of myogenic development.
