Background Information
MDFIC encodes the MyoD family inhibitor domain containing protein, a 246-amino acid protein documented to regulate the activity of transcription factors including the glucocorticoid recep tor (GR), HAND1, and T cell factor/lymphoid enhancer factor (TCF/LEF) family members. The C-terminal region of MDFIC harbors a domain extremely rich in cysteine residues, reported to mediate protein-protein interactions between MDFIC and transcription factor componentry (PMID: 35235341).
