Background Information
KCNT1, also anmed as KIAA1422 and KCa4.1, belongs to the potassium channel family and Calcium-activated subfamily. KCNT1 is outwardly rectifying potassium channel subunit that may co-assemble with other Slo-type channel subunits. It activated by high intracellular sodium or chloride levels. KCNT1 also activated upon stimulation of G-protein coupled receptors, such as CHRM1 and GRIA1. It may be regulated by calcium in the absence of sodium ions (in vitro).
