Background Information
JAG1, also named as JAGL1, CD339 and Jagged1, is a ligand for multiple Notch receptors and involved in the mediation of Notch signaling. It may be involved in cell-fate decisions during hematopoiesis. JAG1 seems to be involved in early and late stages of mammalian cardiovascular development. It inhibits myoblast differentiation. JAG1 enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced angiogenesis. JAG1 signalling through notch 1 has also been shown to play a role in hematopoiesis.
