Product Information
KE00496 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human TMEM119 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human TMEM119. The assay recognizes human TMEM119. An antibody specific for human TMEM119 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human TMEM119 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human TMEM119 is added to detect the captured human TMEM119 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Transmembrane protein 119 (TMEM119) has been shown to be a promising marker. The most widely used microglia markers (Iba1 and CD68) in brain tissue slides do not allow any differentiation between resident microglia and infiltrating blood-derived macrophages. The robustly expressed trans-membranous molecule TMEM119 is known as a microglia-specific marker, which is not expressed by other macrophages, immune or neuronal cells, and is, therefore, the most promising microglia marker to date.
