Product Information
KE00854 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Serotonin transporter ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Serotonin transporter. The assay recognizes human Serotonin transporter. An antibody specific for human Serotonin transporter has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Serotonin transporter protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Serotonin transporter is added to detect the captured human Serotonin transporter protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
The serotonin transporter (SERT) is a crucial protein encoded by the SLC6A4 gene, responsible for regulating serotonin levels in the brain and gut. It plays a significant role in mood regulation, anxiety, and gastrointestinal functions. SERT is also a key target for antidepressants and other psychoactive drugs. Genetic variations of SERT are associated with mental disorders.
