Product Information
KE00789 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human STAU1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human STAU1. The assay recognizes human STAU1. An antibody specific for human STAU1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human STAU1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human STAU1 is added to detect the captured human STAU1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
STAU1 (Staufen Double-Stranded RNA Binding Protein 1) is a highly conserved multifunctional double-stranded RNA binding protein that is widely involved in a variety of cellular processes. STAU1 is involved in the transport of mRNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In neurons, STAU1 promotes the transport and translation of mRNA by binding to the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of mRNA. STAU1 inhibits the retention of these mRNAs in the nucleus by binding to the inverted repeat Alu element (IRAlus) on mRNA, thereby enhancing its nuclear export; STAU1 also induces translation-dependent mRNA degradation (SMD) through direct interaction with UPF1, a process that is critical for gene expression regulation.
