Product Information
KE00847 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human SSBP1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human SSBP1. The assay recognizes human SSBP1. An antibody specific for human SSBP1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human SSBP1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human SSBP1 is added to detect the captured human SSBP1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
SSBP1 protein belongs to the mitochondrial nuclear-associated protein family. The N-terminal DNA binding domain contains an oligonucleotide/oligosaccharide binding (OB) fold structure that can specifically bind to single-stranded DNA. SSBP1 can bind to single-stranded DNA to prevent it from being degraded by nucleases or forming secondary structures, thereby maintaining the stability of DNA, which is crucial in the process of DNA replication, repair and recombination.
