Product Information
KE00969 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human SPR ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human SPR. The assay recognizes human SPR. An antibody specific for human SPR has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human SPR protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human SPR is added to detect the captured human SPR protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Sepiapterin reductase (SPR) is an enzyme crucial for synthesizing tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), a vital cofactor in the body. Mutations in the SPR gene can lead to sepiapterin reductase deficiency (SRD), a rare genetic disorder affecting neurotransmitter production. SRD can cause a range of neurological symptoms, including motor and speech delays, dystonia, and oculogyric crises.
