Product Information
KE00491 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human SON ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human SON. The assay recognizes human SON. An antibody specific for human SON has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human SON protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human SON is added to detect the captured human SON protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
SON, also called C21orf50 and DBP5, is a nuclear speckle-localized protein that shares homology with pre-mRNA splicing accessory factors. It is an RNA-binding protein that acts as an mRNA splicing cofactor by promoting efficient splicing of transcripts that possess weak splice sites, and specifically promotes splicing of many cell-cycle and DNA-repair transcripts that possess weak splice sites, such as TUBG1, KATNB1, TUBGCP2, AURKB, PCNT, AKT1, RAD23A, and FANCG.
