Product Information
KE00562 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human SLC6A6/TAUT ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human SLC6A6/TAUT. The assay recognizes human SLC6A6/TAUT. An antibody specific for human SLC6A6/TAUT has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human SLC6A6/TAUT protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human SLC6A6/TAUT is added to detect the captured human SLC6A6/TAUT protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
SLC6A6, also known as the taurine transporter (TAUT), is a multi-pass membrane protein involved in the transport of taurine and beta-alanine. It plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular osmotic balance and has been implicated in various diseases. Elevated expression of SLC6A6 has been linked to tumorigenesis and poor clinical outcomes in gastric cancer. Additionally, mutations in SLC6A6 are associated with early retinal degeneration. Its function in transporting taurine also highlights its importance in immune responses and metabolic processes.
