Product Information
KE00458 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human SIRP Alpha/CD172a ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human SIRP Alpha/CD172a. The assay recognizes human SIRP Alpha/CD172a. An antibody specific for human SIRP Alpha/CD172a has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human SIRP Alpha/CD172a protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human SIRP Alpha/CD172a is added to detect the captured human SIRP Alpha/CD172a protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Signal regulatory protein Alpha (SIRP Alpha), also known as CD172a, was first identified as a membrane protein present mainly on macrophages and myeloid cells. SIRP Alpha recognizes as ligand CD47, a receptor expressed on all normal cells, but often overexpressed on cancer cells. The interaction plays a role in controlling phagocytosis, and CD47 is often termed a "don't-eat-me" signal through its effect on SIRP Alpha.
