Product Information
KE01006 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human SAT1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human SAT1. The assay recognizes human SAT1. An antibody specific for human SAT1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human SAT1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human SAT1 is added to detect the captured human SAT1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
SAT1 is the gene that codes for the enzyme Spermidine/spermine N1-acetyltransferase 1, which plays a key role in regulating polyamine metabolism and transport within cells. It's involved in a vital catabolic pathway by catalyzing the acetylation of spermine and spermidine, controlling their concentrations and facilitating their export from cells. This regulation is vital for maintaining intracellular polyamine homeostasis. Its expression is highly inducible by various cellular stressors and inflammatory stimuli, and it has been implicated in significant biological processes such as the response to oxidative stress, apoptosis, and even cancer progression, where it can act as a tumor suppressor by depleting pro-growth polyamines.
