Product Information
KE00459 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Ribophorin I ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Ribophorin I. The assay recognizes human Ribophorin I. An antibody specific for human Ribophorin I has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Ribophorin I protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Ribophorin I is added to detect the captured human Ribophorin I protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Ribophorin I, also named as RPN1, is a key protein component of the oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex, which is embedded in the membrane of the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) (PMID: 38373565). It plays a crucial role in the process of N-linked glycosylation, a post-translational modification essential for the proper folding, stability, and function of many secretory and membrane-bound proteins (PMID: 17264154). Ribophorin I, along with Ribophorin II, forms a heterodimeric complex that facilitates the transfer of oligosaccharides from a lipid-linked donor to specific asparagine residues on nascent polypeptide chains (PMID: 30940778).
