Product Information

KE00688 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human PTBP2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human PTBP2. The assay recognizes human PTBP2. An antibody specific for human PTBP2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human PTBP2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human PTBP2 is added to detect the captured human PTBP2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

PTBP2 (Polypyrimidine tract binding protein 2), also named as NPTB, PTB and PTBLP, is a RNA-binding protein which binds to intronic polypyrimidine tracts and mediates negative regulation of exons splicing. It may antagonize in a tissue-specific manner the ability of NOVA1 to activate exon selection. PTBP2 significantly increases in spermatocytes and persists until the elongating steps of spermatid differentiation. Beside, PTBP2 is required for neuron development and survival and functions in part to suppress adult splicing patterns to control the temporal regulation of neuronal maturation.
