Product Information
KE00967 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human PEX1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human PEX1. The assay recognizes human PEX1. An antibody specific for human PEX1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human PEX1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human PEX1 is added to detect the captured human PEX1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Peroxin (PEX) proteins generate and maintain peroxisomes. The peroxin-1 (PEX1) ATPase facilitates the recycling of the peroxisome matrix protein receptor PEX5 and is the most commonly affected peroxin in human peroxisome biogenesis disorders. PEX1 and PEX6 are the only members of the AAA family (for ATPases associated with diverse cellular) activities implicated in peroxisome biogenesis and are closely related to p97, which functions in endoplasmic reticulum-associated protein degradation to retrotranslocate endoplasmic reticulum proteins to the cytosol.
