Product Information
KE00937 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human OAT ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human OAT. The assay recognizes human OAT. An antibody specific for human OAT has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human OAT protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human OAT is added to detect the captured human OAT protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Ornithine-delta-aminotransferase (OAT) is a pyridoxal-5' phosphate dependent mitochondrial matrix enzyme. It controls the L-ornithine (Orn) level in tissues by catalysing the transfer of the delta-amino group of Orn to 2-oxoglutarate. OAT is widely present in all organisms and participates in stress-induced Pro accumulation in the cytoplasm.
