Product Information

KE00572 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human NRG1, isoform Alpha ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human NRG1, isoform Alpha. The assay recognizes human NRG1, isoform Alpha. An antibody specific for human NRG1, isoform Alpha has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human NRG1, isoform Alpha protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human NRG1, isoform Alpha is added to detect the captured human NRG1, isoform Alpha protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

NRG1 (Neuregulin-1) belongs to the neuregulin family of growth factors responsible for cardiac development and cardiac protection from stress and is a protein that plays a central role in cell signaling in the heart, mammary gland, and central nervous system. NRG1 has been implicated in neural development, neurotransmission, and synaptic plasticity. NRG1 and its receptor ErbB tyrosine kinase are expressed not only in the developing nervous system, but also in the adult brain. NRG1 has multiple isoforms that are generated by usage of different promoters and alternative splicing of a single gene.
