Product Information
KE00662 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human NCAM2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human NCAM2. The assay recognizes human NCAM2. An antibody specific for human NCAM2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human NCAM2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human NCAM2 is added to detect the captured human NCAM2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
The mammalian NCAM family has two members, NCAM1 and NCAM2. Neural cell adhesion molecule 2 (NCAM2, also known as NCAM21) is a single-pass type I membrane protein that is highly expressed in the brain, which may play important roles in selective fasciculation and zone-to-zone projection of the primary olfactory axons or in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. NCAM2 has two isoforms: NCAM2.1 bearing transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains and the shorter NCAM2.2 isoform, which is GPI-anchored. Proteolysis results in the release of the free, non-membrane-attached soluble fragments of NCAM2.
