Product Information
KE00500 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human/mouse LRRK2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human/mouse LRRK2. The assay recognizes human/mouse LRRK2. An antibody specific for human/mouse LRRK2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human/mouse LRRK2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human/mouse LRRK2 is added to detect the captured human/mouse LRRK2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) is a large multidomain protein belonging to the ROCO protein family. It contains several functional domains, including an ankyrin repeat region, a leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain, a kinase domain, a RAS domain, a GTPase domain, and a WD40 domain. LRRK2 is involved in various cellular processes, including synaptic vesicle recycling, vesicle sorting via the Golgi apparatus, regulation of lysosomal function, cytoskeleton dynamics, and immune system regulation. LRRK2 is best known for its role in Parkinson's disease (PD). Mutations in the LRRK2 gene typically enhance its kinase activity, leading to neurodegeneration.
