Product Information
KE00830 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase. The assay recognizes human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase. An antibody specific for human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase is added to detect the captured human Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Methylmalonyl Coenzyme A mutase (MUT) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the metabolism of certain amino acids and fatty acids. Mutations in the MUT gene can lead to methylmalonic acidemia, a metabolic disorder characterized by the accumulation of toxic compounds such as methylmalonyl-CoA and propionyl-CoA, resulting in life-threatening metabolic acidosis, respiratory distress, neurological impairment, hyperammonemia, and ketosis. MUT is essential for maintaining normal metabolic processes and its dysfunction can have significant health implications, highlighting its importance in both basic metabolism and clinical medicine.
