Product Information
KE00427 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human MTAP ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human MTAP. The assay recognizes human MTAP. An antibody specific for human MTAP has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human MTAP protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human MTAP is added to detect the captured human MTAP protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
MTAP is a 5-deoxy-5-methylthioadenosine (MTA) phosphorylase, converting MTA to salvageable intermediates including adenine and 5-methylthioribose-1-phosphate. MTAP is abundant in normal cells, but it is frequently found to be deleted in a variety of cancers. Its deficiency is common in cancer cell lines as well as in primary leukemia, lung cancer, melanoma, bladder cancer, gliomas and breast cancer.
