Product Information
KE00516 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human MT-ND5 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human MT-ND5. The assay recognizes human MT-ND5. An antibody specific for human MT-ND5 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human MT-ND5 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human MT-ND5 is added to detect the captured human MT-ND5 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
MT-ND5 is a mitochondrial gene that encodes a core subunit of Complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase), the largest enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC). Complex I is essential for cellular respiration, as it initiates the process by transferring electrons from NADH to ubiquinone (coenzyme Q), coupled with the translocation of protons across the mitochondrial inner membrane to generate the proton gradient required for ATP synthesis.
