Product Information
KE00875 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human MCT2/SLC16A7 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human MCT2/SLC16A7. The assay recognizes human MCT2/SLC16A7. An antibody specific for human MCT2/SLC16A7 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human MCT2/SLC16A7 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human MCT2/SLC16A7 is added to detect the captured human MCT2/SLC16A7 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
SLC16A7, also named MCT2, is a proton-coupled monocarboxylate transporter. MCT2/SLC16A7 has the highest affinity for pyruvate and lactate among all the functionally characterized MCTs, serving as a primary pyruvate transporter in humans. In human cancers, MCT2 has been described as strongly expressed in the cytoplasm of colorectal cancer cells, indicating a possible role in intracellular organelles, such as mitochondria.
