KE00361 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Lactoferrin/LTF ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Lactoferrin/LTF. The assay recognizes human Lactoferrin/LTF. An antibody specific for human Lactoferrin/LTF has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Lactoferrin/LTF protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Lactoferrin/LTF is added to detect the captured human Lactoferrin/LTF protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Lactoferrin (LTF), known as an iron-binding glycoprotein, is the most abundant element in milk. Prior research has illustrated that LTFbears multi-pharmacological properties, including protection against infection, regulation inflammatory response, antioxidant and antifibrotic process. Moreover, clinical trials have identified the safety of oral administration of bovine LTF and demonstrated the efficacy of LTF on anti-infection, treatment of inflammation, cancer, metabolic disorders.
