Product Information
KE00776 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human KIM-1/HAVCR1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human KIM-1/HAVCR1. The assay recognizes human KIM-1/HAVCR1. An antibody specific for human KIM-1/HAVCR1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human KIM-1/HAVCR1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human KIM-1/HAVCR1 is added to detect the captured human KIM-1/HAVCR1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1, also known as HAVCR1) is a type I membrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in various physiological and pathological processes. It is involved in immune responses, viral infections, and renal injury. In the context of renal injury, KIM-1 is highly upregulated in proximal tubule cells and functions as a phosphatidylserine receptor, facilitating the clearance of apoptotic and necrotic cells. Additionally, KIM-1 is involved in immune regulation, including the moderation of asthma and allergic diseases. Soluble forms of KIM-1 can be detected in urine and blood, particularly in patients with renal injury.
