Product Information
KE00454 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human IL18BP ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human IL18BP. The assay recognizes human IL18BP. An antibody specific for human IL18BP has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human IL18BP protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human IL18BP is added to detect the captured human IL18BP protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
IL-18 Binding Protein (IL18BP) is a soluble protein that acts as a natural antagonist of interleukin-18 (IL-18), a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in immune responses. It binds to IL-18 with high affinity, preventing IL-18 from interacting with its receptors (IL-18Rα and IL-18Rβ) and thus inhibiting its biological activity. This regulation is crucial for maintaining immune homeostasis and preventing excessive inflammation. IL18BP is a biomarker for disease activity and severity, as well as a therapeutic target in cancer immunotherapy.
