Background
IFNW1 (Interferon Omega 1) is a secreted type I interferon cytokine, belonging to the IFN-α/ω subfamily, with broad-spectrum antiviral, antitumor, and immunomodulatory activities. IFNW1 binds to the type I interferon receptor (IFNAR1/IFNAR2 heterodimer), activates the JAK-STAT signaling pathway, induces the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), inhibits viral replication, enhances NK cell activity, and promotes antigen presentation. Compared with other type I interferons, IFNW1 exhibits higher antiviral potency and lower cytotoxicity, holding potential application value in the treatment of chronic viral infections (such as hepatitis B and HIV).
