KE00492 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human IFITM2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human IFITM2. The assay recognizes human IFITM2. An antibody specific for human IFITM2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human IFITM2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human IFITM2 is added to detect the captured human IFITM2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
IFITM proteins are a family of cellular antiviral proteins including IFITM1, IFITM2, IFITM3, IFITM5, and IFITM10. It has been reported that IFITM1-3 could restrict the replication of many enveloped and non-enveloped viruses including dengue virus (DENV), reovirus, zika virus (ZIKV), Ebola virus (EBOV), and influenza A virus (IAV). IFITM1, IFITM2, and IFITM3 are constitutively expressed in many tissues and can be induced by type I and II IFNs. IFITM1, IFITM2, and IFITM3 mainly localize to late endosomes and lysosomes.
