Product Information
KE00566 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Hemoglobin Alpha ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Hemoglobin Alpha. The assay recognizes human Hemoglobin Alpha. An antibody specific for human Hemoglobin Alpha has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Hemoglobin Alpha protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Hemoglobin Alpha is added to detect the captured human Hemoglobin Alpha protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
The hemoglobin molecule is a tetramer consisting of two alpha- and two beta-globin-like chains. HBA1 (hemoglobin alpha chain) protein is a alpha-type chain of hemoglobin encoded by two independent genes (HBA1 and HBA2) whose coding sequences are identical. Two alpha chains coupled with two beta chains constitute the adult hemoglobin (HbA or α2β2). HBA1 is also the component of fetal hemoglobin (HbF or α2γ2).
