Product Information
KE00561 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human GPAM ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human GPAM. The assay recognizes human GPAM. An antibody specific for human GPAM has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human GPAM protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human GPAM is added to detect the captured human GPAM protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
GPAM (Glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase 1, mitochondrial) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, specifically in the biosynthesis of glycerophospholipids(PMID: 28131819; 16276094). This metabolic pathway's first step is catalyzed by the encoded enzyme. Two forms for this enzyme exist, one in the mitochondria and one in the endoplasmic reticulum. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described for this gene.Diseases associated with GPAM include Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata, Type 2 and Congenital Generalized Lipodystrophy.
