Product Information
KE00503 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human ESR2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human ESR2. The assay recognizes human ESR2. An antibody specific for human ESR2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human ESR2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human ESR2 is added to detect the captured human ESR2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Estrogen receptor-beta (ESR2) is a member of the superfamily of nuclear receptors, which can transduce extracellular signals into transcriptional responses. It binds estrogens with an affinity similar to that of ESR1, and activates expression of reporter genes containing estrogen response elements (ERE) in an estrogen-dependent manner. DNA-binding by ESR1 and ESR2 is rapidly lost at 37 degrees Celsius in the absence of ligand while in the presence of 17 beta-estradiol and 4-hydroxy-tamoxifen loss in DNA-binding at elevated temperature is more gradual.
