Product Information

KE00470 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Drebrin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Drebrin. The assay recognizes human Drebrin. An antibody specific for human Drebrin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Drebrin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Drebrin is added to detect the captured human Drebrin protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Drebrin (DBN1) is an actin binding and stabilizing protein with roles in endocytosis, formation of dendrite spines in neurons and coordinating cell-cell synapses in immune cells. Preferentially expressed in the brain, it is highly localized in dendritic spines and regulates spine shapes. It has two isoforms that are splice variants, with drebrin A being expressed in neural cells, and drebrin E is present in several other cell types. The decrease of Drebrin contributes to the pathogenesis of memory disturbance in Alzheimer's disease.
