Product Information
KE00709 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Cytokeratin 7 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Cytokeratin 7. The assay recognizes human Cytokeratin 7. An antibody specific for human Cytokeratin 7 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Cytokeratin 7 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Cytokeratin 7 is added to detect the captured human Cytokeratin 7 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Cytokeratin 7 (CK7) is a type of low molecular weight cytokeratin that is generally restricted to epithelia and their neoplasms. It is commonly expressed in glandular epithelial cells, such as those in the lung, breast, and endometrium. CK7 is often used as a diagnostic marker in pathology to differentiate between various types of carcinomas. For instance, CK7 is typically positive in adenocarcinomas of the lung, breast, and endometrium, while it is usually negative in colorectal adenocarcinomas. Additionally, CK7 has been implicated in tumor progression and metastasis. Its overexpression has been associated with poor prognosis in certain cancers, such as pancreatic adenocarcinoma. CK7 is often paired with CK20 in diagnostic pathology to classify tumors.
